What is legal technical assistance?
Legal technical assistance is information and education about what the law provides for or allows related to a federal, state, or local government policy goal. NPLAN typically provides a variety of tools that explain pertinent legal and policy issues for different audiences, from community advocates to local policymakers to government attorneys. For example, we have fact sheets that explain basic legal principles or that discuss the components of a specific policy for community members. We also have model policies and legislation that primarily are useful to policymakers and attorneys who are actively involved in the legislative process. Finally, we have legal analyses that are written for attorneys who may want in-depth information about a particular legal topic. Our legal technical assistance materials are available to the public so that anyone can have access to the educational resources NPLAN provides.
