District Policy Restricting the Advertising of Food and Beverages Not Permitted to be Sold on School Grounds
School districts know that students' health-related choices are influenced by many factors,
but that advertising plays a key role in their decision making. This policy can help further a school district's goals of maintaining a school environment focused on learning, protecting and promoting students' health and welfare, and minimizing the commercial exploitation of its students. It can be a tool to help create and maintain a learning environment that minimizes commercial distractions.
This sample policy is provided as a guide and is not offered or intended as legal advice. Readers should seek the advice of an attorney when confronted with legal issues, and attorneys should perform an independent evaluation of the issues raised.
