Because the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution limits the government from imposing certain restrictions on speech, concerns can emerge when a government entity limits food and beverage company advertising. NPLAN has conducted research into the First Amendment, specifically the Commercial Speech Doctrine, and developed several model policies that school districts can use to restrict advertising of food and beverages.
